1995 Attack from Mars - £4250

For sale is our much loved 1995 AFM. We’ve owned this for a number of years. We always keep her clean and waxed and have done our best to keep her playing 100%. As
usual with our sales threads we’ll break it down into the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you want any more pics or info just let me know. We are in Wandsworth in London with viewings welcome.

The Good

Pinsound+ board installed
Loaded with the remastered OST and the community (mars attacks) sound
pack.

Pinsound shaker board & motor
Recently released this is a very featured shaker motor with great
customisation options. We’ve spent hours customising the shaker profile
and it’s now a very dynamic and integrated setup. Better than the CGC
shaker IMO.

Full Comet LED conversion
We’re not a fan of colour matching so we’ve gone cool white in the GI
and inserts. Little to no ghosting on PF however the backbox does have a
flicker. Our next step was going to be a GI OCD board after we got one
for Wh20 and saw the amazing results. By no means required though.

Gozmod Bullet UFO board upgrade
Recently installed multi colour, hardened version of the Gozmod board.
Looks great

Fully Cliffy protector set (4 peice)
We originally had an Ebay knock off set however the SOL one has snapped.
There’s a huge backlog if you want these from Cliffy so we’ve only just
got them - ready to install, it does cover the SOL wear completely but also will include the correct epoxy that we planned to fix it for good with.

Colour Pin2DMD display
Preinstalled is the payware colour files, which look great. Fully
integrated to the machine power, no fuss.

Full set of rollover protectors
These sit on the in/out lane rollovers and not only look good on AFM but
protect the PF

Cols custom plastic protectors (6 peice)
These are in acid green and really pop. Initially we were unsure about
them but now couldn’t imagine the machine without.

New speakers (including sub)
Alongside the Pinsound board these new speakers were a welcome
replacement from the 30 year old originals. Very clear.

Leg protectors (colour matched)

Recently rebuilt flippers

Solid rebuilt jets

New flipper buttons

New launch button

New translite trim

New custom apron cards

Latest home rom

Nice clean stern glass only 2 minor marks

All new GI bulb holders

Rubber feet / floor protectors

Will include original orange DMD + bag of goodies like old plastics, rubbers etc

The Bad

Power board has had a hard life, amateur repairs
There are areas burnt out of the power driver. Two of the GI strings have had to be hooked to an alternative out on the board. I’m unsure exactly what is required to fix this completely but has been reliable as it currently is and happily runs all the extra boards, shaker, dmd etc.

One string of backbox lamps are dim
Hard to notice with the LED upgrade but worth mentioning here. Pretty
sure it’s a wiring issue within the BB string as the rest of the strings
are fine.

Capture 1 PF lamp intermittent
Again just worth mentioning for full disclosure. The capture 1 insert
occasionally goes out. 99% sure it’s an issue with a connector on the
break out board.

AV board audio amp is blown
The whole audio part of the board is disconnected because of the Pinsound upgrade, but it’s worth mentioning that the amp is blown.

The Ugly

Cab is faded
Mostly it’s that the red is now yellow. As with all machines this old.
Not significant chunks out of it though.

Stroke of Luck hole is very worn
Can be covered with the cliffy (included) but we’d planned on repairing
it with epoxy which we will include.

Playfield has wear in areas you’d expect
Have tried to show everything in photos, overall I think it looks and performs just fine but the SOL does either need epoxy or a cliffy - I’ll include both.

Coin door lock drilled out
We never had any keys for the coin door so the lock was drilled out. Door stays closed just fine so we just consider it slightly easier access.

Just a quick note

remove the diodes from above the gi pins and replace with zero ohm resistors or wire links. I’d also replace the header pins and molex plugs. This will more than likely sort out the brightness issue.

Thanks for this advice mate - we'd read similar instructions and had planned to sort the whole thing at once. It's been running fine so has always found its way to the bottom of the todo list.
