For the second year running Northern Lights Pinball will be running this event in collaboration with Europe's largest videogame venue - Arcade Club in Bury (near Manchester). As well as the 200 or so classic arcade cabs you can expect around 50 pinball machines, with everything on free play the whole weekend (with the possible exception of one pay-to-play highscore competition machine, raising money for charity)

The charity we're supporting this year is something we expect the whole pinball community can get behind. Darren Ball's sister, Mekayla Ramsey, has been battling with the effects of Gardner's Syndrome and all the effects it brings. We're hoping the money we can raise will go a little way to help with the medical needs. You can read more about Mekeyla's story here: https://www.gofundme.com/2rpmxft3

Entry tickets will be on sale soon, as will tickets to the pinball competitions taking place. We'll post updates here, on Facebook and on the official site : www.8bitflip.co.uk as soon as things are ready

In the meantime, make sure to keep your Easter weekend free!

The NLP Crew will once again be running The Big Flip tournament on Saturday 15th April at the 8BitFlip show in Bury, Lancashire.

This popular competition is played across all the pinballs at the show and is designed to ensure that everyone who enters will play in at least two rounds (a minimum of 7 competition games).

As a new added incentive for everyone to take part this year, anyone who gets knocked out prior to Round 3 will receive a full refund of their competition entry fee.

The tournament is a qualifying competition for WPPR points and the UK Championship Series

Entry places are strictly limited to 64 so please sign up in good time if you want to take part

We will also be running our classics competition The Old Flip again on Sunday 16th April.

For full details of the 8BitFlip show, the competitions and our fundraising this year and to buy tickets and enttries for The Big Flip visit our website:

Hi Paul @Wizcat

Is it supposed to charge £1.50 for postage on the tickets when paying by Paypal ?

Cheers

kev

Oops, that doesn't seem right. We've got top men working on it right now. Expect an update later. Cheers for flagging it up!

Tickets should be working now @newdos , no longer charging for postage (because as you know, we aren't posting tickets. Please bring a print out of your paypal receipt)

Not sure what that other error you were getting was though Kev. If you hit that issue again I'd say try using 'incognito' or 'privacy' mode on your web browser. That's the easiest way to make sure your basket/cookies are all empty and you're starting fresh, but come back if you still have issues.

Thanks Paul,

Still getting the error but at least the P&P has gone lol!! Its not a password issue as it come up in red if you get anything wrong and I use paypal on a weekly basis. It seems the error appears as soon as the login happens after password authentication ????

I expect that's a cookie issue. Did you try using privacy mode (aka InPrivate, or Incognito) in your browser @newdos ?

Cleared all my browsing data including cookies and I still get the error!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!

How strange.. Will send you a PM shortly Kev to save turning this into a support thread, but if anyone else is having issues then please PM me or one of the team, or send us a message on Facebook. Cheers.

Hi David,

Just wondering if there is a list of players for the bigflip competition anywhere? Really looking forward to the show.

Many thanks, Craig

The Big Flip tournament at 8BitFlip 2017 – it’s not too late to enter!

Only 3 weeks to go before The Big Flip tournament on April 15th and we still have some places left

If you’ve not yet entered there are some very good reasons to consider giving it a go:
  1. New this year: If you are eliminated before Round 3 of the tournament you will get your full tournament entry fee refunded
  2. New this year: The later 11am start makes it easier for those coming from a distance to take part. (It’s also possible to join at the Round 2 stage at 12 noon, but at a potential disadvantage)
  3. New this week!: Our very good friend Pascal Janin from Association Flippp! in France has generously offered a donation of £2 for every competition entry to our fundraising* this year
  4. The Results Count: The Big Flip is a qualifying tournament for the UK Championship Series, and for World Pinball Player Ranking (WPPR) points
Full details of The Big Flip tournament and the 8BitFlip show, including entry ticket purchases, are on our website www.8bitflip.co.uk

* Our fundraising this year is to help enable the seriously ill sister of Darren Ball to afford a desperately needed Small Bowel transplant. All our share of the profits from the show will be donated to this cause. Darren is a founder member of the committee organising the Northern Lights Pinball and 8BitFlip shows, and has helped out many members of the pinball community over the years.
If you can offer any support to our fundraising, please contact me or any member of the NLP crew.

Got the day off work this time so have just bought tickets.
(Also I know I'm not very active but I only just found out that this was actually going on again this year)

Wasn't aware of that. Might be a good idea to send out confirmation emails making that clear to people like myself who've been eagerly waiting by the letter box....

The page that we're selling tickets on (http://www.8bitflip.co.uk/buy-tickets/) does say in big letters that we're not sending out tickets. Still, it's a fair point. Will have to see if we can send an email reminder nearer the time

Yeah, but some of us don't have time to be reading big letters. We just want to skip skip skip to the Payment Processing page and then maybe we'll check the details 2 days before the event in the payment confirmation email that never came...

Hopefully 8BF will also have a list of names so if we arrive they'll let us in even if we forget to bring the printout.

A list of everyone who has entered The Big Flip tournament so far is now on the website, here:
http://www.8bitflip.co.uk/the-big-flip/ (click the "registered players" tab)

Still places left to enter - check out the tickets page http://www.8bitflip.co.uk/buy-tickets/
If you are bringing one or more pins and so don't need to pay for show entry there is a "tournament entry only" option in the drop down list

Long shot I know but is anyone on the south coast heading up able to pick up TFTC from @Fintan Stack and bring it to 8bitflip? Martin has gone off the radar.

Thanks

The countdown to the most exciting place to be this Easter weekend has begun.
8BitFlip has now established itself as the retro gaming event for enthusiasts, collectors and casual players alike.

All video games and most pinball games will be free to play all weekend once you have purchased an entry ticket.
The exceptions will be the two pinballs used for the EM Challenge and High Score competitions (all weekend) and 8 pinballs used for the Old Flip competition (Sunday only, whilst in use in the competition)

Here’s the latest list of pinball machines we expect to be present –something for everyone from modern Sterns, golden age Bally/Williams, rare Gottliebs and ElectroMechanical classics. As with any show that depends on support from the pinball community this list is subject to last minute changes – for the latest available list of games check out “The Show” tab on our website http://www.8bitflip.co.uk

All games at the show will feature in our major tournament The Big Flip on Saturday 15th April and will be selected at random for competition matches.

Every entrant will get to play at least 7 tournament games, and anyone eliminated before Round 3 will get their full tournament entry fee refunded so there is really no reason not to give it a go.

Play is head to head in groups of between 2 and 4 so it’s a great way to meet other players and make new friendships

Full detail of the competition, including a list of players signed up so far, can be found by following the “Competitions” tab on our website http://www.8bitflip.co.uk

If you already have tickets for 8bitflip you can buy an add-on Big Flip tournament only ticket on our tickets page, which also features the full range of tickets for the show itself: http://www.8bitflip.co.uk/buy-tickets/ .

Tournament places are limited, so don’t miss out!

With enormous thanks to Matt, we're very pleased to announce that Alien will be making an appearance at the show next weekend!

This particular machine may well be on pay-per-play to help fund our charity efforts, so don't forget your pound coins!
